Bitter Sweet Love Book Review – Jennifer L. Armentrout

This was a digital box set I had picked up while on sale. I didn’t catch that the first book in it, Bitter Sweet Love, was just a novella about two lesser characters from the main series. I thought they had a good story going so I was a little confused and disappointed when reading on to white hot kiss that they weren’t the main characters.

Otherwise I liked these characters both were strong and interesting. Jasmine is a female Warden, a gargoyle like species that’s whole purpose is to make sure the demon population is kept in check so Hell is never revealed to humans. While the male species typically does all the fighting with demons the females of the species are kept closely guarded since their race is dying out as the demons target them first. Jasmine isn’t the normal passive female she wants to fight, see the world and learn to drive before she is mated with her first love Dez. But she isn’t going to give in Easily. After leaving her with no word as to why three years earlier she gonna make him crawl before she gives in or she just might reject him for spite!

I love these strong characters. They were funny, interesting and relatable. The way she makes him go through a bucket list before she says yes is great! (Reminded me of myself since I made my fiancé a list too! I wanted to wait till I was 30 and I wanted to go to Europe and Africa. And I did!!.) I even thought the pudwukie was cute and a funny scene!

But it was so short (again I didn’t realize it was just a novella before reading) I wanted more of these characters and their story. Maybe Jen will go back and write a bit more about them. fingers crossed!

Overview by Goodreads:

Dez wasn’t just Jasmine’s crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining the balance between good and evil. He was her everything…right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn’t help that Jas’s father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.

And now he’s back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn’t taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again…

Every Last Breath Review -Jennifer L. Armentrout

17455817

They just cannot catch a break in this last installment of the Dark Elements series. It is by far the best! Finally we see Layla find her true bad ass self and we see more of her and Roth!! This book has a lot happen in a shirt amount of time and will leave you as blown away as the characters are by the end. The ending will get you in the feels but Jen definitely makes up for it with ending the book with enough after the fact goodies! Since the book has so much going on and paced so fast the ending really winds you down and makes you feel good about where the characters leave off. Which most books simply do not do enough of. Alas, another series over that I want to keep living in!

Overview by Goodreads:

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Stone Cold Touch Review – Jennifer L. Armentrout

17455815

This book definitely picks up the pace. I let me tell you, you will fall more in love with Roth!! Even though Layla has been in love with Zayne for ever I am team Roth all the way! How could you not be?!!  Upside, Layla’s character has definitely become one I am starting to like with her leaving her child like whiny tendencies behind becoming more confident.

In this book she doesn’t know who to trust her family or her family’s enemy a demon. She only has her heart to guide her and is torn not only between family and love but also against herself.

With a twist at the end leaving you wanting to find out more this will definitely be a great read! Enjoy!

Overview by Goodreads:

Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…
