A Shade of Novak by Bella Forrest book review

23790992

The Shade of Vampire story continues in with our usual cast and Sofia and Derek. Now it’s a decade later and their twins are full grown and making mischief along the way.

This book is a transgression from our normal leads. As usual this book is written in multiple point of views but Rose, one of the twins, is mostly who we see things from. As with the first Shade of Vampire book this one has a bit of the Stockholm syndrome thrown into play but you feel it is only a hearing up for a more elaborate story as books come.

I liked that these books didn’t just let go of our normal leads as most do when trying to add the “new generation” of characters into the story. You feel like they are still heavy hitters in the story.

After so many previous books in the series this one is a little slower not as much happening but it is still a good read. Like I said you feel it’s just ground work for the next books in the series.

I hope Sofia and Derek are still part of the next reads as much as they were in this one. As a reader you never want to let go of your favorite characters.

With all this I will confess it wasn’t as thrilling as the story of Sofia and Derek but I can tell it just leading up to more! Forrest will not disappoint I am sure! I am sure to be rewarded by reading on to the next installment.

I never could have imagined that Derek and I would willingly turn back into vampires.

But there are some things in life that you just can’t predict. Like the strange human disappearances that had started happening on the coasts surrounding us.

There would have been nothing mysterious about these kidnappings so close to our own turf, had The Shade’s vampires not given up drinking human blood almost two decades ago…

A Break of Day by Bella Forrest book review

What a roller coaster ride the story of Sofia and Derek has been! Truly a great and entertaining read from all seven of the books!

Even though this book had a great ending it felt rushed. But that is the way of endings readers always want more of their characters. Needless to say it was a perfect ending to their story! And leads us to the next story line embarking with the twins!

I fully enjoyed these book and fully recommend them. Enjoy!

Another edge of your seat read! So many mysteries are tangled around our couple Sofia and Derek and no end is in sight for their reunion!

Unfair is the only word I have for this book! The ending is a huge cliffhanger. And breaks my heart for Derek and Sofia! You definitely will want to read on to the next book after this one! It’s almost as if you have to keep reading just to see their happy ending!

Welcome back to The Shade…

Derek and Sofia are finally enjoying a well-deserved break. Staying at a resort with good food, sun and sea, Sofia is thrilled to witness Derek’s re-introduction to the human world.

They would almost be mistaken for a normal young couple, if it were not for the red-eyed monster lurking in the shadows and watching their every move, waiting for his signal to pounce…

Another great read! Finally Sofia and Derek have possibly found true sanctuary for the vampires. But is their love strong enough to survive getting there?

This book we finally get the redemption from all the horrors Sofia  and Derek faced from the last book! Even though you know this will be short lived as there is more for them to finish.

Because I don’t want to give away what happens in my reviews this one  I will leave at that! Another great read from Forrest!

This book was grueling! It twists your emotions! Sophia and Derek are separated and things at the Shade are in chaos upon Derek’s return! It seems they can trust nobody and never catch a break before another thing tumbles out of control!

This was a good read! Although I felt myself yelling at Sofia for being so rusting and yelling at Derek for being to broody! Ikept thinking get your heads out of your asses and just do something already!

And the ending left a bad feeling about their future! Don’t get me wrong I liked the book but man there is only so much you can take of negative events! lol I wanted something to lift my spirits after all the horrors they went through and the ending did not help!

Even with all that said I can’t wait to find out what happens next! (Something’s wrong with me lol)

A Castle of Sand by Bella Forrest book review

This installment of A Shade of Vampire is an emotion ride. Lines of deceit are crossed, characters finally take their sides and things start to crumble in Sofia and Derek’s world in the Shade. Little do they know Sofia is more entwined in the Vampire world then they could possibly know. Everyone wants a piece of her and it doesn’t look like she will survive!

I liked this book as the games were played to stay alive and ahead. This book again was written in multiple perspective but is easy to follow. We finally see some action between the Vampire families and the hunters too!

I also like that Sofia is finally standing up for herself and the humans living on the Shade and that Derek is stepping up to defend them with her!

I can’t wait to see what happens next with Sofia, her family, Derek and the Shade!

A Shade of Blood by Bella Forrest book review

The second installment to Forrest’s A Shade of Vampire series is enthralling! More secrets are revealed about Sofia and her role with the Novak vampires. These secrets lead to more questions and keep you centered on finding out what happens next!

More characters perspectives come out to read but this doesn’t take away from the story. Most books that do this can get repetitive and hard to navigate but this isn’t the case with A Shade of Vampire.

This is definitely a book to escape into and with there being so many in the series I relish that I can read without dreading an end of the series for awhile! A must read for sure!

This is instantly an intriguing story! I have been wanting to read these  books for awhile and finally had the chance when I added kindle app to my phone. What took me so long I do not know!

I love the double perspective of the story getting Sofia and Derek’s point of view. The writing is fluid and doesn’t linger too long on background descriptions I like it!

Forrest has created characters you instantly like and feel for. Making you want to keep reading. Although it’s a sure Stockholm syndrome story right now I feel that more is to come that makes that tired storyline fade away making it an even more believable story and digging it’s claws into the reader.

I am excited to read on and find out more. Definitely a great read.

The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson book review

The last installment of Tje Remnant Chrincicles is a nonstop nail biting ride! I felt myself say a few times “Can they ever catch a break!!!!”  It seems that Lia and her Prince are just never allowed the happiness they deserve as war, family, and kingdoms get in the way over and over! I love Lia’s character and how strong she is from the beginning and keeps growing throughout the series! Her gift of knowing as a chosen frost daughter has saved herself and Rafe from the clutches of the “barbarians” of Venda but is it enough to infiltrate her homeland and reveal the traitors that lurk at home?

Lia and Rafe make it the rough their arduous journey from Venda only to encounter more turmoil within their own families and betraylesnif trusted royal council leaders. Lia must uncover the traitors within her fathers own court before they catch her. It will be her head or freeing her people from tyranny only to face the massive army of Venda without the help of her family.

It seems not only are feelings swept aside but also kingdoms for love.

Pearson will have you on the edge of your seat with the final installment! I was not overly thrilled with the ending even though Lia and Rafe find their way back to each other. I wanted more of their love story in the end. It seemed a little rushed to finish off their live story. Even with this I loved the book and the compete series! I hope you will too!

My Rating: 5Stars

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson book review

The second installment of The Remnant Chronicald is just as captivating as the first! This installmemt we are with the main character, Lia, as she circumnavigated the barbarian world of Venda. But she is not alone, Rafe her farmhand summer love has turned out to be the Prince of Dalbreck. The one she ran away from. Unbeknownst to Lia he found her and during a summer romance while pretending to be a tavern. Aid and he an out of work farmhand fell in love and when she was taken by the  barbarian Assassion to Venda, their sworn enemy he followed her. Now it’s just Lia and Rafe amid a barbarian kingdom with enough soldiers and firepower to destroy both of their provenices. They have to make it out alive not only to have their happy ending but to ensure their own people’s survival. But what costs are they willing to make to ensure their people’s survival?

Lia and Rafe find themselves in a web of secrets and lies to survive with the assassion, Kaden always on their trail. Even if Lia is the chosen in and can free the people of her own province from the wicked can she turn her back in the “barbarians” of Venda who support her and need her? There is still their leader, the Kozimar, who can thwart their plans. Lia has to be convincing to lead the double life in Venda and stay alive.

This book will have you on the edge of your seat! You will not want to put it down! As a history buff it really caught my attention that Venda was set in post apocalyptic Washington DC. As the story unfolds and you hear more of the “Ancients” story you become enthralled with finding out what happened to our civilization and how Lia navigates a dangerous path between love and loyalty to Rafe and her own heritage.

My Rating: 5Stars

Now that she lives among them, however, she realizes that may be far from the truth. Wrestling with her upbringing, her gift, and her sense of self, Lia must make powerful choices that will affect her country… and her own destiny.
